Title: Propagating wildfire

Description: The picture shows the temperature and velocity field during the propagation of a wildfire. It was obtained from numerical simulation using a multiphase formulation. This calculation was performed for a surface fire propagating through a Mediterranean shrub with a wind velocity equal to 2m/s. The flow near the fire front is characterized by the formation of a column of hot gases at the top of the burning zone (the plume) which deviates the wind flow and aspires fresh air at its base.
