Title: A race against viscosity
Description:
Two fluids are placed on an inclined plane. Which one goes faster? In this race between ketchup and chocolate syrup, the less viscous chocolate syrup flows more rapidly. The race could also be affected by surface tension and contact angle between the material and the substrate. These parameters determine when the drop first starts to move since they control the initial instability. One could conclude that ketchup has a higher static contact angle than chocolate syrup and that it why it never gets into the race.
