Title: Volcanic eruption (oil painting)

Description: The little Indonesian girl rises at dawn and climbs the hill, where she and her toy bunny rest against a palm tree and watch one of Earth's most awesome spectacles, a volcano in full eruption. The volcanic plume is fluid-dynamically correct, revealing Kelvin-Helmholtz vortices and growth by vortex pairing. This is a painting in my series depicting what an artist sees, if that artist is also a fluid-dynamicist. Except for the crimson discord, this painting is rendered entirely in 2 colors: cadmium orange and french ultramarine blue. 20x24" oil on stretched canvas, 2011.
