Title: A soap-drive boat

Description: If one places detergent in contact with water, the surface tension of the water is reduced in that location. If the drop of detergent were placed in the center of the empty bowl, the surface tension of the water in the center would decrease and the water would pull away from the center in all directions. Here we put a bit of detergent in the slot in a small boat. Since the detergent is confined to the cavity with only one way out, the result is a jet from the rear end of the boat that drives the boat across the water.
