Title: Direct numerical simulation of the turbulent flow generated by a fractal square grid #3

Description: Instantaneous streamwise velocity visualisations of a turbulent flow generated on a fractal square grid in the (x-y) plane. To solve the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations, a numerical code (called ``Incompact3d'') was used, based on sixth-order compact schemes for spatial discretization and second order Adams-Bashforth scheme for time advancement. The Poisson equation was solved in the spectral space despite the use of inflow/outflow boundary conditions. This simulation required more than one billion mesh nodes.
